A special thank you goes out to Wendy D. for sharing this So Easy Tray tip. This is in honor of National Plain Yogurt Day on June 20th.
To make your own yogurt, you need starter. You can use a scoop from your current batch of starter about 5-6 times (from Wendy’s experience) and then it starts to lose its ability to gel properly. Wendy buys a small container of organic whole milk yogurt at the store and then uses a scoop (her recipe calls for 1 Tablespoon per 1 quart of milk). She then freezes the remainder of the store-bought yogurt in her So Easy Trays.
When it’s time to refresh the starter supply, Wendy defrosts 1-2 cubes (depending on size) and uses it as the starter. It makes terrific yogurt every time!
